تهدف هذه الدراسة لتسليط الضوء على امر بغاية الأهمية وهو دور العلم في تحديد الجريمة من خلال تطوير أدلة الإثبات حيث إن موضوع الإثبات الجنائي يعد من الموضوعات المهمة التي تواجه السلطات اثناء مكافحة الجريمة لذا تعمل هذه السلطات على الاستفادة من الأدلة العلمية التي تسهم في اكتشاف الجريمة والحد منها. وعلى الرغم من أن الطب الشرعي والأدلة الجنائية التقليدية قد توصل الى العدالة الجنائية إلا أن الثورة التي حصلت في عالم الجينات بشكل عام وتقنية الحمض النووي (DNA) بشكل خاص ودخولها في مجال الإثبات تعتبر امر مهم في مجال الاثبات، وتعتبر البصمات على اختلاف أنواعها من الوسائل الحديثة لكشف الجريمة اذ تطور علم البصمات تطورا مذهلا فلم تقتصر على بصمة الاصبع بل توصل علم الأدلة الجنائية إلى التعرف على الأشخاص من خلال بصمات العين والأذن والحامض النووي DNA. من هنا جاءت أهمية البحث لدراسة لبيان دور هذه البصمات في المادة الجزائية وخاصة في الأردن.
وتوصلت الدراسةً الى عدد من النتائج كان أهمها ان للبصمة الوراثية أثر كبير في المادة الجزائية يعتبر من أهم الأدلة الجزائية في كشف الجريمة.

Although forensic medicine and traditional forensic evidence have reached criminal justice, the revolution that took place in the world of genetics in general, and DNA technology in particular, and its entry into the field of proof is an important matter in the field of proof, and fingerprints of all kinds are considered Modern methods of crime detection as the science of fingerprints has developed astonishingly, and it is not limited to the top of the fingerprint, but forensic science has reached the identification of people through eye and ear fingerprints and DNA.
The study reached a number of results, the most important of which was that the genetic fingerprint had a significant effect on the penal article. One of the most important criminal evidence is the detection of the crime.
