Abstract
This research deals with an important aspect, which is the role of municipalities in reducing environmental pollution and achieving sustainable development, where municipalities play an important role in addressing pollution within cities by regulating industrial and commercial activities: municipalities can adopt zoning laws and land use regulations that control where and how to operate Certain types of industries and businesses within its borders. These regulations can help prevent or reduce pollution by setting limits on the types and amounts of pollutants that can be emitted into the air, water, or soil. In addition to enforcing environmental laws and regulations: Municipalities can enforce federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to pollution, such as the Pollution Act. The Clean Air and Clean Water Act and the Resource Conservation and Restoration Act. This could include issuing fines and penalties to companies and individuals who violate these laws, as well as requiring them to take corrective action to address pollution.
